2021 ONE HEALTH CHALLENGE WINNERS

WINNING TEAM: Together One Forever
Kareena Ajith, Natasha Nayar, Andreanne Morera, Matthew Wilson, Sophia Rivas

Click for more details on 'Together One Forever'
Together One Forever is a project that aims to connect groups of senior adults (65+) along with youth (18-30) through weekly interactive storytelling sessions in which a virtual workbook about the senior’s life and personal experience will be gradually created. Seniors will be prompted to revisit memories of their past and long-forgotten thoughts that they will share with the younger participants. This experience will develop their connection and bond, fostering new ideas and learning experiences. The workbook that will result from the sessions will be valuable memories and learning experiences encompassed in an interactive scrapbook, one that seniors can enjoy themselves as well as share with their family members and friends. Memories of a lifetime, resurfaced through the power of cross-generational interactions.

RUNNER-UP: BioDem
Hailey McGuire, Neha Khanna, Jaimie Reynolds, Molly Zhang, Izzy Munevar-Pelton

BioDem combines a biodome containing specialized air filtration systems with programming that connects older adults with younger generations through a COVID-friendly space. The BioDem program coordinator will communicate with already existing adult day programs to decide the best use of the BioDem space (i.e., physical activities, arts and crafts, cooking, storytelling). We hope to gain cross-generational connections from volunteer youth facilitators who are hired to engage in activities that provide bidirectional growth and enjoyment. Our proposal allows us to target a wider audience of seniors who may not have tech experience or access to computers or phones and provides opportunity for societal advancement through architecture and environmental appreciation.
