Tamimi Ahmad is a software developer, Carleton alum, and the Director of Community Engagement and Special Events for Connected Canadians, an Ottawa-based non-profit that uses a hands-on learning approach to promote digital literacy skills among older adults. Tamimi is passionate about building relationships through technology and has organized several community events to further the organization’s mandate.

Sophia Krystek began volunteering with Connected Canadians in early 2020, working one on one with seniors and attending workshops as a remote Technology Mentor. She has recently stepped into the position of Outreach & Partnership Coordinator as part of a Mitacs Scholarship in collaboration with the Sprott School of Business where she is currently working towards completing her Master of Science: Management degree.

Dr. Jerry M. Maniate is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Innovation in Medical Education at uOttawa, a Clinician Investigator with the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute’s Clinical Epidemiology Program, and Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion & Education for The Ottawa Hospital. Born in Winnipeg, he spent 11 years in Toronto completing his Master of Education and starting professional and academic practice before moving to Ottawa with his young family. He has held a host of high-level positions including President of the Resident Doctors of Canada, Executive Committee of the Canadian Association for Medical Education and has a strong research and leadership interest in supporting education within the health care system.
Marcellus Mindel is a Carleton alumni and Head of the Centre for Advanced Studies with IBM Canada, where he facilitates research collaborations between academics and industry. Marcellus is passionate about human-centred design and works with students, educators, and researchers to enable the application of IBM technologies to business and societal challenges.

After a 35-year career as an educational leader, Helen Hirsh Spence pivoted to social entrepreneurship in her late 60s. She founded Top Sixty Over Sixty which provides businesses and individuals with the courses, coaching and consulting needed to thrive in today’s rapidly ageing world. Top Sixty advocates for age diversity, equity and inclusion. Helen serves as a mentor, life coach, and is an avid volunteer on various boards at the local, national and international level.

Mike Traub is the Vice President of Riverstone Retirement Communities, an Ottawa company which operates nine residences offering comfort, amenities and a full Continuum of care to older adults. Mike has a wealth of experience in the field of Retirement Living and has been managing residences for over 30 years.
